On March 16, 2024, at St. Louis 1 Surabaya The atmosphere was filled with enthusiasm and enthusiasm when the Surabaya Integrated Science and Technology Institute (ISTTS) and St. Louis TV (STV) held a Videography Training workshop. This event is a form of close collaboration between educational institutions and local media to provide valuable learning experiences to students, especially in the fields of videography, public speaking and media handling.
The opening ceremony was led by Mrs. Mas Rara Dwi Yanti HandayaniI, S.Pd., M.M. from ISTTS, this event began with a warm welcome to the participants, committee and supervisors including Mr. Gangsar Septa Putra Hidayanta, S.Psi. or Mr Septa from STV. The enthusiastic opening of the event was followed by a joint prayer and ice breaking, creating a pleasant atmosphere before entering the material session.
The interesting question "What is Branding?" from speaker Ardalina .L.C.G., S.Ds., M.I.Kom opened a discussion about the basic concepts of branding and the role of social media in shaping the image of an organization. This discussion actively engaged participants, giving them the opportunity to participate and gain a deeper understanding of the importance of branding in today's digital era. Apart from that, participants are also introduced to effective public speaking skills, including public confidence, good speaking techniques, and efficient interaction with the media.
According to Mr. Septa, understanding creativity in digital media and time management is the key to success in the creative industry. Therefore, this training was carried out specifically for St. Catholic High School students. Louis 1, giving them a strong foundation for future development.
One of the interesting aspects of this workshop is the direct application of the concepts learned. The participants were divided into groups and sent to locations on Jalan Tunjungan and Balai Pemuda to create a video project with a predetermined theme. Each group was assigned to make a promotional video about St. Mary's Catholic High School. Louis with a little element of soft selling.
The trip to Jalan Tunjungan went smoothly with the assistance of our mentor. Discussion between group members is important in determining the content to be created. One group that had a vintage theme chose to record in a cafe. They collaborate well to produce creative ideas that suit the given theme.
After exploring the content on Jalan Tunjungan, participants and the committee rested and had dinner before continuing activities at the Youth Hall. The participants arrived at the Youth Hall safely and continued activities to search for content. Before starting, they took a photo together as a souvenir.
After the last session was finished, the committee evaluated the projects that had been created by the participants. Once finished, each group presents the results of their work in front of the supervisors and other participants. This is an opportunity for them to show the knowledge they have gained from previous material sessions. During the presentation session, participants were also given constructive feedback from supervisors and fellow participants. This helps them to continue to develop and improve the quality of their work in the future. Then, they returned to school to rest before the activities on the second day.
Thus, the STV x ISTTS Videography Training workshop at SMA St. Louis 1 Day 1 succeeded in providing valuable experience for the participants in developing public speaking, media handling and videography skills. Through a combination of theoretical learning and direct practice, they can broaden their horizons and improve their abilities in producing quality video content.
Collaboration between ISTTS, STV, and SMA St. Louis 1 in holding this event shows their commitment to supporting the education and development of the young generation who are creative and competent in facing the challenges of this digital era. Hopefully activities like this can continue to be carried out in the future, providing greater benefits for the participating students. With the right training and the opportunity to collaborate with industry professionals, young people will be ready to face the challenges of the future with the confidence and necessary skills.
