iSTTS this year held a virtual Open House due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This Virtual Open House will be held on 8-11 June 2021 via the Zoom platform. Although held online, this Virtual Open House event is still no less interesting; The event which lasted for 4 days was filled with various interesting workshops and sharing sessions on various topics related to the majors at iSTTS. Starting from the topic of design, electrical, industry, business, and others. The speakers presented are professionals in their fields so that the participants can easily digest the material presented.
On the first day, this event consisted of two sessions. In the first session, the speaker was Herman Thuan To Saurik, S.Kom.,M.T with the title 'How to Make Your Own 2D Platformer Game'. Meanwhile, in the second session, the event continued with the 'Broaden Your Future Graduate With Australian/Korean World Class University Degree' session for participants who are interested in expanding their future abroad. This sharing session presents Ir. Edwin Pramana, M.AppSc., Ph.D. and Kevin Christian Mulia.
On the second day, the event was filled with the 'Lettering with Coffee' workshop which was presented by Amelia Agustina, S.Ds. In this workshop, the participants were invited to be creative in lettering with coffee. Mrs. Amel teaches lettering starting from the basics to sharing useful tips about lettering. The participants were invited to jointly practice the workshop material. While doing a demo of the workshop material, Mrs. Amel answered the participants' questions about the material and the world of Visual Communication Design.
On the third day, it begins with the first session, namely a sharing session about 'Build Your Own Success With Technology and Management', which is a collaboration between the Department of Electrical Engineering and Industrial Engineering. This session was hosted by Andri Suhartono, S.T., M.T and Matthew Lawrenta, S.T. consecutively. Mr. Andri opened the session with material about college and work. He explained about ways to earn income by applying knowledge from lectures, especially in the electrical department. Next, Mr. Matthew shared about Technology and Management. He also shared several important factors that can be applied to running a business.
The second session was presented by Yohanes Firananta, S.T., M.M. about 'Designing Your Own Packaging'. In this session, the participants gained knowledge about product design and chose the appropriate packaging design. After the material, participants were invited to practice making packaging designs by remake the BTS Meal packaging which was currently popular.
On the last day, the Event was filled with two sessions. The first session was presented by Dr. Esther Irawati, S.Kom, M.Kom with the title 'Build Your Own Cloud Based AI Chatbot, Enhance Your Social Media Strategy'. He explained the various advantages of using chatbots and how chatbots can help us grow our business. The participants were also invited to practice using a chatbot using Dialogflow.
This event ended with a workshop session on 'How to Code a Face Filter Using Computer Vision Techniques' which presented Dr. Yosi Kristian, S. Kom. M. Kom. as a speaker. He invited the participants to practice together in running the face filter code step by step. The participants who can answer the questions from Mr. Yosi are given prizes in the form of OVO vouchers. The event ran with enthusiasm and the participants had the opportunity to ask questions if they had difficulties during the practice.
This year's Virtual Open House event is interesting and can reach a wide audience with the presence of participants from outside Surabaya. When the event started, the participants were greeted warmly by the iSTTS PMB team, and presented with the iSTTS company profile video. In the video, participants can get to know more about iSTTS, from facilities, interesting student activities, to various majors at iSTTS. Participants are also invited to participate in quizzes through Kahoot to review the material from each session they have participated in. The two participants with the highest points in each quiz will be awarded an OVO voucher.
At the end of each session, participants were asked to fill out a questionnaire/feedback form to provide input for the iSTTS Virtual Open House 2021. Through this event, participants had the opportunity to gain various experiences and knowledge through the iSTTS Virtual Open House 2021 series of events.
