Starting a business among students is an interesting and rewarding challenge. The "How to Become An Entrepreneur" seminar at SMK Petra Surabaya on April 23 2024 is a clear example of how entrepreneurship education can inspire students to take their first steps in the business world.
The event began with remarks from Mam Yanti, a representative from the ISTTS campus, who underlined the importance of creativity and entrepreneurial spirit in today's digital era. Simultaneously with him, Kelvin, ST, MM, an Industrial Engineering lecturer from the STTS Institute, provided inspiring material on how to become a successful entrepreneur. Mr. Kelvin discusses the 5 main characteristics of an entrepreneur, the basic concepts of a business, and strategies for starting an online business. Seminar participants, consisting of 250 students from six different classes, looked enthusiastic and interested in every explanation and tip given. The fact that there were five students who asked about how to start a business shows the students' great interest in entering the world of entrepreneurship.
Mr. Kelvin, as the material presenter, presented the topic "How to Become An Entrepreneur" very inspiringly. In his material, he discusses the 5 main characteristics of a successful entrepreneur, the basic concepts of a business, and strategies for starting an online business. The students looked enthusiastic in listening to every explanation and tip given. This was proven by 5 children who asked about how to start a business.
After the material delivery session, the event continued with a practical workshop which lasted for 45 minutes. Students are invited to make simple pins but have high economic value. This not only provides hands-on experience in designing products, but also teaches them to consider efficient production cost factors. This workshop is very important because it provides a real picture of the business processes involved in product creation and cost management.
By delivering this material, it not only provides theoretical knowledge, but also encourages students to think critically, innovate, and dare to take steps as an entrepreneur. One of the messages conveyed by Mr. Kelvin was that entrepreneurship is not just about starting a business, but also about how we can contribute positively to society through creative ideas and innovative solutions.
The seminar participants looked enthusiastic and motivated after taking part in this activity. They realize the importance of having an entrepreneurial spirit amidst increasingly fierce global competition. Each student has the opportunity to create an attractive pin design using the pins prepared by ISTTS.
At 13.30 WIB the seminar "How to Become An Entrepreneur" was closed by Mam Yanti who appreciated the initiative of SMK Petra Surabaya in holding activities that support the development of students' potential in the field of entrepreneurship. With the burning enthusiasm and new knowledge gained through the "How to Become An Entrepreneur" seminar at Petra Vocational School Surabaya, it is hoped that students will have new hope and determination to start a career as an entrepreneur. This event provides positive encouragement that not only inspires, but also provides sufficient provisions for every student, regardless of the major they take or their background.
The closing of this seminar marked the beginning of a long journey for the students in exploring the world of entrepreneurship. With burning enthusiasm, it is hoped that they can apply the knowledge and skills they have gained to face future challenges with confidence. This event provides a strong foundation for students to take the first steps in starting a career as an entrepreneur.
