The return of offline Study Orientation, Freshman Summit 2022

After 2 years of conducting online research, ISTTS decided to revive this event. Falling on August 8 – 11, 2022, ISTTS will hold an ospek to welcome new students from the class of 2022. This ospek is known as the Freshman Summit 2022 which presents the theme “New Start, New Beginning.”

With careful preparation long before it started, this event was successfully delivered lively from beginning to end. Unlike the previous lectures which were presented in a tense and loud atmosphere, the 2022 Freshman Summit presented a more friendly and relaxed atmosphere but still prioritized discipline for new students. Not to forget, the Freshman Summit committee strictly maintains the Health protocol during the event.

The entire Freshman Summit 2022 event begins with the PRA Freshman Summit (PRA FS) which will be held on August 3 – 4, 2022. At this PRA FS, the Freshman Summit committee collects data and information on new students starting from health, knowledge of locations around campus, interests, talents, to leadership attitudes. New students are also immediately divided into several teams and receive a briefing on the tasks they have to do. This task includes making keplek, team boards, yells, and group mascots.

After being given a few days to prepare, it was time for the 2022 Freshman Summit to begin. The committee members did a scan in front of the auditorium first to check the attributes and completeness of the new student items. On this first day, new students received a warm welcome from Mr. Ir. Arya Tandy Hermawan, M.T. as the Chancellor of ISTTS.

In addition, there were several seminars delivered related to matters regarding campus management and administration. This seminar consists of BAA Seminar, ECC Seminar, Ethics Seminar, and IT Seminar. The next activity is a campus tour, where new students are invited to tour the campus area. This activity aims to make them more familiar with the campus environment and all the facilities available.

Entering the second day of the Freshman Summit, there are still important seminars on campus delivered today. Seminars on the second day included BAU Seminars, BEM Seminars, and KUI Seminars. After the seminar session, there was a UKM (Student Activity Unit) promotion session where new students were introduced to UKM in ISTTS. Several SMEs promote their activities with attractive performances, including Karate and Dance UKM. UKM Karate displays karate techniques in front of the stage accompanied by short fighting actions that are so excited. Then followed by the appearance of UKM Dance with their dance which is no less exciting and interesting.

The next session was the “Signature Committee” game where new students had to get the name and signature of the Freshman Summit committee. Not a few of them are required to do a unique challenge from several committees to get their signature.

Continued to the third day of the Freshman Summit, as usual starting with a seminar. The seminar on the third day only covers the BAK Seminar. Followed by a very interesting session, namely the presentation of the team boards and mascots of each team. Taking the animal theme, the mascot of each team is an animal whose ingredients are arranged in such a way that it resembles the shape of an animal according to each team. This was followed by a UKK (Spiritual Activity Unit) session where new students would be divided based on their respective religions to take part in a series of UKK events.

After the UKK session is over, it's time to enter the most awaited session, the “Big Game.” In this game session, new students compete to get the most points by playing various games provided.

The last day of the 2022 Freshman Summit arrived, the last seminar that was delivered today included the Library Seminar. Then it was continued with the “Talent Show” session where each team displayed their talents. Their performances are very unique and varied, ranging from stand up comedy, music games, singing, fashion shows and even live coding.

Followed by a big match, namely "FS Cup" which includes basketball matches and Mobile Legend tournaments. Each team gave several member representatives to participate in the FS Cup. Unmitigated, several committee members also took part in the FS Cup so that new students could have fun with the committee. The Freshman Summit ended with the announcement of the winners of the FS Cup competition, the best team, and the best cama-cami. After the closing ceremony, the new students entered the “Ospek Department” activity where they would re-enter a series of special Ospek events for their respective majors.
