KSP Season 15 Episode 5 was successfully held on Wednesday, 23 November 2022 with the theme "Chart vs Graph: Visualization That Best Suits Your Data". This material was presented by Dr. Ir. Fransisca H. Chandra, MT. who is a lecturer majoring in Electrical Engineering and Business Information Systems at the Surabaya Institute of Technology and Integrated Science (ISTTS).
After briefly introducing herself, Mrs. Fransisca started her material according to the KSP theme in this episode. Previously he asked the participants, "What is the difference between Chart and Graph?". He briefly explained that, "The difference is, a chart is where data is represented by symbols, such as bars in a bar chart, lines in a line chart, or slices in a chart, while a graph is a graph that can be read faster because more images can display data". The function of Chart and Graph is to make viewers more comfortable and efficient when viewing data in the form of charts and graphs.
There are 4 visualization objectives namely; Comparison, Composition, Distribution, and Relationship. What are the conditions for making the right Charts and Graphs? The condition is that you have to make it from the center point of the x-axis, the edges are thinner, and so on. In addition, there are several things that must be considered, namely; Column Histogram, Bar Chart, Color must be consistent and avoid colors that cannot be seen for those who have color blindness (examples of colors that cannot be seen for people who are color blind are red and green).
Furthermore, in the final session of the event, a question and answer session and games were held with several questions. Then, the winners will receive prizes in the form of digital payments in the form of Go-pay or Shopeepay according to the predetermined champion category and end with a group photo session. The conclusion from KSP Season 15 Episode 5, when presenting data in graphs, it is better to use column charts or bar graphs and the coloring must be consistent so that it is easier to understand and use.
